Bealls Department Stores, Inc., is helping increase water safety education in Florida by supporting the USA Swimming Foundation’s Make a Splash program, a national child-focused water safety initiative that aims to provide the opportunity for every child in America to learn to swim.

Available from March 7-22, 2010, Florida consumers can visit any Bealls Department Store in Florida and purchase a $3 donation voucher to fund low-cost swimming lessons for children in Florida who otherwise may never learn to swim. Consumers will receive 15 percent off their purchases at Bealls Department Stores on Sunday, March 21 and Monday, March 22 with the purchase of the $3 donation voucher. Bealls will then donate 100 percent of donation voucher sales to the Make a Splash initiative.

3.23.10 - Relay for Life of Stoneybrook Meeting


A meeting for the Relay for Life of Stoneybrook is scheduled for March 23 at Whispering Oak Elementary School beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Relay will be held April 30-May 1 at Whispering Oak Elementary School with opening ceremonies starting at 6:00 p.m. followed by a survivor/caregiver lap at 6:30. Everyone is invited to attend the Relay. There will be activities, games, food and special events throughout the Relay.

Spruce Creek's PTSA (Parent Teach Student Association) is hosting a first ever car show for everyone to come and participate in! We invite YOU to be a part of the Mayor’s Challenge Golf Tournament to Benefit Youth Activities! The event will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the New Smyrna Beach Municipal Golf Course. 100% of the proceeds will be used to help offset costs, to families, for youth activities such as: Youth Baseball, Flag Football, Basketball, Golf, Summer Fun Day Camp, After School Programs, Winter Day Camp, and others.

4.23.10 - Relay for Life Golf Tournament


The Oviedo Recreation and Parks Department is proud to announce the Inaugural Charity Golf Outing, benefitting Relay for Life and cancer research. The event will take place on Friday, April 23, 2010, with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start at the Twin Rivers Golf Course in Oviedo. Golfers will be provided with 18 holes (scramble format) of golf that will include cart, free beverages, meal, door prizes, and more.

According to the American Cancer Society, the nationwide estimation of cancer deaths is 565,650 annually. The American Cancer Society is trying to lower this number by raising money to fund research and support programs for cancer patients. One of the American Cancer Society’s larger fundraising events is Relay for Life, in which the City of Oviedo actively participates.

Please help the City of Oviedo support this worthy cause with a tax deductible sponsorship donation made payable to American Cancer Society. The 2010 Relay for Life of Stoneybrook is a family-oriented event benefiting the American Cancer Society; in which teams of 2-12 participants walk or run around a track in shifts.
